On Thursday, August 6th, UNIALFA hosted representatives from the Public Defender's Office of the State of Goiás (DPE-GO) for an institutional meeting at the Perimetral Unit. The meeting's agenda focused on expanding the Cooperation Agreement between the institutions, with an emphasis on strengthening actions related to teaching, research, outreach, and community service.
The partnership between UNIALFA and DPE-GO already includes the participation of the Law course in initiatives such as the "My Father Has a Name" Program, an action promoted by the Public Defender's Office. Based on the dialogue held at the meeting, the proposal is to expand this participation to other areas of study, allowing different courses at the institution to also contribute with projects and activities related to their fields of knowledge.
The meeting brought together representatives from both institutions.
Representing the Public Defender's Office of the State of Goiás were Dr. Mayara Batista Braga, Deputy Public Defender-General for Administrative Affairs; Dr. Isabela Novaes Saraiva, Director of the Multidisciplinary Service Center; Dr. Murilo Mendes Teixeira, Director of Information Technology; Dr. Tatiane Dias Pimentel, Director of Social Communication; Lélia de Souza Campos, Head of the Internship and Volunteer Service Department; and Bruno Ribeiro, Advisor to the Director of the Multidisciplinary Service Center.
Representing UNIALFA were Prof. Dr. Thiago Matsushita, Rector of UNIALFA and FADISP and Superintendent Director of ALFA EDUCAÇÃO; Prof. Dr. Lauro Ishikawa, Director of Operations; Prof. Dr. Ellen Cristina André, Manager of Interpersonal and Institutional Relations; Prof. Ph.D. José Eduardo de Miranda, Director of the School of Business, Health and Polytechnics; as well as the respective Coordinators of the Undergraduate Courses at UNIALFA.
Expansion brings different areas of training closer together.
During the meeting, representatives discussed possibilities for integrated action between UNIALFA and DPE-GO. Expanding the agreement opens the way for courses from different areas to support projects, academic activities, outreach programs, and initiatives focused on societal needs.
The proposal reinforces the importance of bridging the gap between academic training and social reality. By involving students, professors, and coordinators in actions developed in partnership with the Public Defender's Office, UNIALFA expands opportunities for practical learning and strengthens experiences related to citizenship, social responsibility, and community service.
Beyond legal practice, the expansion of the agreement allows for consideration of interdisciplinary contributions involving areas such as health, business, technology, communication, management, and other fields of study at the institution. The idea is that each area can contribute, within its competencies, with actions aligned with the needs of the DPE-GO (Public Defender's Office of Goiás) and the academic possibilities of UNIALFA (University of Alfa).

For UNIALFA, the dialogue with the Public Defender's Office represents an opportunity to broaden student participation in formative experiences that combine technical knowledge, professional practice, and social commitment. The partnership also strengthens university extension programs, one of the pillars of higher education.
With this meeting, UNIALFA reaffirms its commitment to building institutional partnerships capable of generating social impact, enhancing student training, and bringing the academic environment closer to public initiatives aimed at promoting rights and access to justice.
