On Monday, August 31st, UNIALFA held the event “Beyond the Pen: Nutrition, Phytotherapy, and Muscle Preservation in the New Era of Weight Loss,” in celebration of Nutritionist's Day. The activity took place in the ALFA Hall, at the Perimetral Unit, and brought together students and professionals from the course.
Organized by the Nutrition course at UNIALFA, in partnership with CRN-1, the meeting aimed to discuss current topics in the field, such as weight loss, body composition, phytotherapy, obesity, sarcopenia, and metabolic health.
Nutrition in the face of new weight loss challenges.
The program featured nutritionist Gisele Sales, a specialist in Phytotherapy and inspector for CRN-1, who addressed the importance of muscle preservation in the weight loss process. The discussion highlighted the need to look at weight loss more broadly, considering not only the reduction of measurements but also the maintenance of muscle mass and the promotion of health.
The event also featured Dr. Luiz Paulo Ribeiro, a postgraduate in Obesity and Sarcopenia Sciences, who presented a reflection on the pharmacotherapy of obesity and its relationship with nutrition. His approach contributed to broadening the debate on the role of nutritionists in the face of new therapeutic possibilities and the necessary care in monitoring patients.
Professional development and enhancement of the field.
The activity marked the celebration of Nutritionist's Day at UNIALFA and reinforced the importance of constant updating in the training of students. By bringing together academics and professionals, the meeting promoted the exchange of experiences and brought participants closer to discussions present in the contemporary practice of Nutrition.
For UNIALFA, initiatives like this strengthen the course's commitment to technical and ethical training aligned with the current challenges of the profession. The celebration also highlighted the nutritionist's role in promoting health, providing nutritional guidance, and offering comprehensive care to individuals.
