Biweekly classes, Fridays from 7pm to 10:20pm and Saturdays from 8am to 6pm. The days and times of laboratory and outpatient activities will be announced later, subject to availability of the location and patients.

What will I be able to do after the course?

After completing this course, you will be able to provide quality and safe care to women during the pregnancy and postpartum period, including the newborn and the family, integrating the various aspects that influence care, following the good practices recommended by the World Health Organization.

This course is for you, a professional of excellence who seeks opportunities to improve, update and innovate your skills in the area of Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a view to caring for women during the pregnancy-puerperal period, being able to perform care and deliveries.

What are the objectives of this course?

The course provides solid theoretical and methodological training in obstetric and gynecological nursing, covering topics such as ethics, legislation and humanization in professional practice. Public health policies, the Unified Health System and health care networks are also explored. In addition, the course covers clinical aspects of gynecological nursing consultations, low-risk and high-risk prenatal care, labor and delivery, puerperium and newborn care. Finally, the course also covers care in obstetric emergency and urgency situations.

What will I learn in this course?

  • Perform normal deliveries and identify obstetric and perinatal risks in accordance with public policies for women's health care in the reproductive cycle;
  • Identify strategies to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, as well as weaknesses and strengths of services, procedures and professionals who provide care in obstetric emergencies and urgencies;
  • Demonstrate intervention proposals to improve the dynamics of obstetric emergency and urgency services;
  • Recognize the importance of changes in practice based on suggestions from intervention projects;
  • Carry out good labor and birth practices;
  • Perform normal delivery without dystocia based on humanistic principles.
  • Perform fetal monitoring;
  • Carry out prenatal consultations in reference units linked to the SUS;
  • Carry out nursing consultation in gynecology;
  • Identify the main sexually transmitted infections;
  • Recognize signs of normal labor, dystocic labor, and all obstetric complications at the site of occurrence.

Nurse, graduated in Nursing and Obstetrics from PUC/GO in 2006, Master in Nursing from FEN/UFG, specialist in ICU and Management, quality and auditing. Currently a full professor at Estácio Goiás University Center. She worked for 17 years as an intensive care nurse and manager of a referral hospital in traumatology and tutor of multidisciplinary residency at SES/Go. Research member of FEN/UFG.
