Course presentation

THE Specialization in Psychological Assessment UNIALFA was structured to offer psychology professionals a curriculum in line with the needs of the job market, clientele, contexts of psychological assessment and places of activity, presenting pertinent and technical content.

Furthermore, it provides an exchange of experiences between peers and qualified teachers who develop their knowledge and skills, so that they can think and act strategically in gathering information on psychological phenomena, in a way that allows assertive decisions in the process of psychological analysis and investigation.

This training is achieved through the continuous exchange of information and experiences between course students, teachers and case studies, acquiring inputs to overcome the challenges and responsibilities of their careers.

Objectives

Develop psychologists capable of working in various contexts that require critical, ethical, responsible and technical development of the psychological assessment and psychological testing process, as well as providing strategic acuity in the best choice and due mastery of techniques, procedures, methods and instruments exclusive to the profession in various types of work.
To this end, it has the following specific objectives:

  • Provide students with solid knowledge in Psychological Assessment and Testing, ensuring resources for the effective application of this knowledge in their daily work context;
  • Promote the development of skills and competencies to critically conduct the Psychological Assessment process in accordance with the objectives of the assessment, the context in which the assessment will be carried out, the individual being assessed and the psychologist's own mastery of the process;
  • Train the student in the administration, correction, evaluation and execution of standardized reading according to the manual for each test, based on a consistent psychometric reference;
  • Train the student to issue technical documents in accordance with the class Ethics Manual, under the guidance of the Federal Psychology Council;
  • Enable the student to correctly identify the initial demand based on the scientific knowledge available for the area, thus impacting the assertive choice of instruments, strategies and evaluation techniques;
  • Disclose the Psychological Test Assessment System (SATEPSI) as the sole and important criterion for checking the validity of psychologists’ exclusive instruments;
  • To publicize the different contexts of application of psychological assessment in different areas of activity, as well as to train professionals in this area, contributing to the expansion of the psychologist's areas of activity, apart from the clinical (classical) one.
  • Which tests could students use to assess a certain psychological aspect, providing technical knowledge for the student to explore the Psychological Assessment environment considering their context of action, modality, subject to be assessed and general structure of an assessment process, without, however, qualifying the student in any specific test or battery in particular.

Target audience

The Specialization course in Psychological Assessment is exclusively intended for psychologists with active registration with the Regional Psychology Council.

Differentials

  • Experienced teachers who work in the market with the psychological evaluation process in the most varied contexts of practice: organizational, clinical, hospital, legal, outpatient, traffic, among others;
  • Promotion to networking: the course also encourages the exchange of practices and experiences in different contexts by the professionals and teachers present in each module;
  • Very low rate of teacher repetition throughout the specialization, which allows students to have contact with different professionals in the market;
  • Promotion of clinical reasoning by the student to analyze and understand the specificities and complexities of each case in their work context;
  • Course focused on technical training in the psychological assessment process, a major differentiator when compared to the market, which focuses on the practice of psychological testing, that is, on teaching psychological tests to the detriment of the process in its different contexts. This configuration focused on the Psychological Assessment process can allow the student to work in different conditions of psychological investigation practice, since by understanding the process in different places where the psychologist works, the student becomes qualified to choose the tools and techniques (including psychological tests) based on the specificities of these same particularities and not solely and exclusively on the familiarity that he/she has with the tests alone;
  • Clinical cases from professionals with years of experience in psychological assessment, used to promote ethical and practical posture and clinical reasoning among students, who will be trained to deal with extreme situations and deal with different cases.
