Professional training

The course of Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the UNIALFA was authorized by the MEC on July 19, 2001 (ordinance no. 1,581 published in the DOU of 07/23/2001), and achieved recognition on June 16, 2005 (ordinance no. 2,154 published in the DOU of 06/20/2005) with the graduation of the first class. It subsequently obtained two renewals of recognition: the first was on April 3, 2017 (ordinance no. 265 published in the DOU of 04/04/2017), and the second renewal of recognition occurred on June 25, 2020 (ordinance no. 203 published in the DOU of 07/07/2020). 

Aimed at graduating professional journalists with theoretical, technical and ethical training, qualified to practice their profession as agents of democracy and committed to the public interest, the course forms conscious, critical and autonomous citizens with a holistic and comprehensive view of the world. Here, students will be instructed by a faculty made up of doctors, masters and specialists in the area of communication, with extensive academic and marketing experience.

Journalists trained by UNIALFA are prepared in theory and laboratory practices with simulations carried out each semester in the media laboratories: Writing and Computer Graphics, Radio, TV and Photography Studios, in addition to Baru – Experimental Communication and News Agency, with space dedicated to editorial planning, Innovation and Design Thinking. It is a place integrated into UNIALFA's communications center that offers students a true experience of the profession. Thus, upon graduation, the professional will be able to work in the areas of:

  • Digital, Audiovisual and Print Journalism working in communication vehicles as a reporter, writer and editor in various media (radio, TV, photography, video and web); producing agendas; planning coverage; conducting interviews; producing news; executing reports; writing; editing; producing and editing journalistic photographs; producing and presenting programs on radio, television and digital media;
  • Press, Corporate and Image Consulting (aimed at personalities, influencers, athletes and artists) with execution of journalistic editorial projects, editorial design; production for audiovisual, documentaries, reportage books; curation and management of journalistic information; planning and moderation with readers; 
  • Teaching and Research in Communication in the development of scientific research related to the area of communication and journalism.

Job Market

The course of Journalism from the UNIALFA It trains professionals with the knowledge and skills to work ethically with the production and dissemination of informational content aimed at the community. It teaches how to report facts fairly and critically analyze the social, political, economic and cultural reality of our country.

With mastery of the language and technical support for broadcasting, the course provides students with intellectual skills and prepares them to produce and articulate information and knowledge about current affairs. Therefore, it offers full command of the languages of various media and qualifies them to work in a convergence scenario. Thus, UNIALFA journalists will be prepared to work in:

  • Communication Vehicles: Printed newspapers and news portals; Television Stations (open and VOD streaming platforms); Printed and digital magazines; Radio Stations and Web Radio;
  • Digital Communication Agencies;
  • Audiovisual Communication and Sound Communication Producers;
  • Publishers and Web publishers;
  • Programmatic Media Bureau;
  • Corporate and Organizational Communication;
  • Press and Communications Advisory;
  • Professional and Personal Image Consulting;
  • Political and Electoral Communication Consulting;
  • Third Sector Organizations: NGOs and Community Associations;
  • Scientific research and teaching career: work in Universities
  • Market research institutes.

DOCTOR Patricia Quitero Rosenzweig

PhD in Visual Art and Culture PPGACV/FAVUFG (2021), master in Visual Culture, with a concentration in Visual Processes and Systems PPGAV/UFG (2008), lato sensu specialist in Educational Planning UNIVERSO (2003) and bachelor in Social Communication: Advertising and Propaganda from PUCCAMP (1996). She has been working in the teaching career for 23 years. Since 2006, she has worked as an Assistant Professor II at the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás (PUC Goiás). In 2016, she started as a Professor III at the Alves Faria University Center (UNIALFA), teaching subjects in the area of advertising creation, audiovisual production, live marketing, methodology and events, planning and management, in addition to supervising TCCs. Currently (2021/2022), she coordinates the Undergraduate Courses in Social Communication: Advertising and Propaganda and Journalism at UNIALFA – Perimetral and Bueno units. Author of the book Personalidades Construídas no Cinema Documentário – published by CRV (2019). She was the pedagogical coordinator of the Undergraduate course in Social Communication: Advertising and Propaganda at Faculdade Cambury (2004-2005), coordinated the Social Communication: Advertising and Propaganda course at the Catholic University of Goiás from 2006 to 2009 and the Social Communication: Advertising and Propaganda course at PUC Goiás from 2009 to 2010. In terms of marketing, she worked in the Communication and Marketing Division of PUC Goiás (2011 – 2013), implementing communication for the institution's social networks. He coordinated in-person lato sensu postgraduate courses: Specialization in Strategic Communication (PUC Goiás – 5 classes, 2011-2017) and Audiovisual Communication and Digital Media (FASAM – class 2015-2017).
