The Psychology course recognizes extension projects developed in Human Resource Management and brings students closer to the research conducted in the Professional Master's Program in Administration.
During the event "Psychology in Focus: Science, Profession and Professional Practice," held in celebration of Psychologist's Day on August 27, 2026, the Psychology Course and the Professional Master's Program in Administration at UNIALFA promoted an activity that connected two important dimensions of academic training: extension and research developed in undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
The initiative, proposed by the coordinator of the Psychology Course, Professor Dr. Hérica Landi de Brito, began with the recognition of undergraduate Psychology students who excelled in the work developed in the People Management – Extension Practice course, under the supervision of Professor Acácia Alves. In the course, students experience concrete situations in the world of work, carrying out diagnoses in small companies and, based on the identified needs, developing proposals for the implementation or improvement of people management practices.
Extension activities allow students to connect their knowledge of Psychology to the real demands of organizations, developing skills related to problem analysis, diagnosis, planning, and proposing solutions. In this way, extension activities also serve as a space for bridging the gap between academic training and the challenges encountered in the job market.
From outreach to research: a bridge to the Professional Master's program.
Based on the work developed during undergraduate studies, the program progressed to a discussion about scientific production in Human Resource Management, through the panel "From undergraduate to postgraduate studies: dialogues and productions in Human Resource Management".
The meeting included the participation of Professor Patrícia Kinast, a lecturer in the Professional Master's Program in Administration; alumna Gleiciane de Oliveira, who was a student of Professor Patrícia Kinast; and master's student Daniela Flávia Garcia Dourado, a student of Professor Hérica Landi de Brito, coordinator of the Psychology Course and professor in the Professional Master's Program in Administration.
The activity allowed students to see how issues related to Human Resource Management, initially experienced in extension programs, can also become objects of scientific investigation in postgraduate studies.
By connecting the outreach work carried out by Psychology students with the research developed in the Professional Master's Program in Administration, the initiative highlights the possibility of building an academic trajectory in which problems identified in professional reality can generate research questions, knowledge production, and new possibilities for intervention.
Extension, research and the job market
The proposal also reinforces the role of outreach in professional training. By working with real organizations, students move beyond simply studying Human Resource Management concepts and begin to use them to understand concrete situations, identify needs, and develop intervention proposals.
The connection with postgraduate studies broadens this experience by showing students how knowledge produced from problems in the world of work can be systematized, investigated, and deepened through scientific research.
This connection between outreach, research, and professional practice strengthens student training and highlights the integration between different levels of academic education within the institution.
For UNIALFA, initiatives like this represent an opportunity to give visibility to student production, bring undergraduate and graduate studies closer together, and demonstrate, in a concrete way, how knowledge circulates between the classroom, organizations, extension projects, and scientific research.
By connecting the Human Resources Management extension program offered by the Psychology Course to the research conducted in the Professional Master's Program in Administration, UNIALFA creates an academic experience that bridges the gap between education, knowledge production, and the job market, strengthening the integration between undergraduate and graduate studies.
