During the month of October, psychology students are carrying out several projects for the Pink October campaign. Fifth-year students Daniela Pereira, Jhenyfer Martins and Suleaine Rezende are collecting scarves to later be donated to hospitals and institutions that work to prevent breast cancer.

Pink October emerged in the United States in the 1990s, when states came together to promote breast cancer prevention, leading to the approval of a national awareness month. The famous pink ribbon was introduced during a race in New York in 1990 and was later widely distributed. Breast cancer is a tumor resulting from the abnormal multiplication of breast cells, caused by genetic alterations that can be inherited or spontaneous throughout life.

The students' group work will take place during the month of October. In addition, mental health and breast cancer prevention will be the topics of lectures at the 7th UNIALFA Teaching, Research and Extension Congress (CEPE), which will be held from October 21 to 23. The initiative to address the topic is to raise awareness in society about the importance of awareness and prevention of breast cancer.
