Students in the Psychology course at UNIALFA concluded the activities of the Humanistic-Existential Foundations discipline with presentations that integrated theoretical rigor and creative proposals applied to contemporary issues in psychological practice.
The activity was led by Professor Jaíne Batista, who challenged the classes to connect fundamental authors of philosophy, which is the foundation for the clinical practice of Humanistic Psychology, such as Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, Han, Levinas, and Le Breton, to the real dilemmas faced by society.
Among the works presented, one proposal stood out that related Emmanuel Levinas's ethics of alterity to the knowledge of indigenous peoples, highlighting that welcoming the "Other" is an ancestral knowledge, essential for a decolonial and inclusive psychology, and how ancestral perspectives reinforce a sensitive, humanized, and decolonial psychology.
Another presentation that drew attention was the simulation of a talk show, which presented the fictional product "Aceita Corpin," created to discuss, in a critical and humorous way, the relationship between body, identity, and society. Inspired by David Le Breton, the students analyzed the aestheticization of the body, the dictatorship of beauty, and the need to understand the body as a subject, not as an object.
The program also included theatrical performances illustrating existential freedom and thematic podcasts about the performance society.
This initiative reinforces UNIALFA's commitment to a broad, critical, and well-founded education, encouraging future psychologists to interpret the world from multiple perspectives—an essential step towards ethical, conscious, and transformative practice.
